Lead Technical Adviser Consultancy Opportunity with CAFOD Zimbabwe

CAFOD Zimbabwe is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced consultants for the position of Lead Technical Adviser — Learning and Partnership Blueprint under a donor-funded Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Sustainability Partnership Programme, subject to grant approval.

Job Title: Lead Technical Adviser — Learning and Partnership Blueprint (Expression of Interest)
Location: Home-based with travel to and within Zimbabwe
Closing Date: 5 August 2026
Contract: Consultancy (Day-Rate Based, Up to 88 Days)
Duration: August 2026 – March 2027

The consultancy will support a partnership focused on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of women’s rights organisations in Zimbabwe while generating practical learning that can benefit the wider sector. The successful adviser will provide technical leadership in research, learning, partnership development and evidence generation throughout the programme.

About the Assignment

The consultancy aims to produce credible, practical and ethically sound learning that will:

Strengthen the income diversification strategy of the participating women’s rights organisation.
Produce lessons that can be adapted by other Zimbabwean women’s rights organisations and private-sector partners.
Meet donor reporting and quality requirements.

The assignment is advisory rather than supervisory, with the women’s rights organisation retaining decision-making authority throughout the programme.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Technical Adviser will be expected to:

Financial Safety Study
- Lead and oversee research examining economic abuse within digital financial services, remittances and cash collection systems.
Learning Study
- Design and oversee a qualitative learning study.
- Guide research methodology and dissemination of findings.
- Produce internal and external learning outputs.
Partnership Blueprint
- Develop a practical partnership blueprint.
- Produce a corporate engagement toolkit.
- Develop a business case for corporate partnerships.
Partner Reflection Sessions
- Design and facilitate two structured reflection workshops.
- Document lessons, decisions and recommendations.
Peer Learning Event
- Support the design and facilitation of a peer learning and exchange event.
Technical Support
- Coordinate technical inputs across programme workstreams.
- Review key programme outputs.
- Support evidence collection and donor reporting.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

Essential

At least 10 years of senior experience in gender equality and VAWG programming, research and evaluation.
Experience conducting qualitative research in GBV or VAWG contexts.
Strong experience producing practical learning resources for civil society.
Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work across NGO and corporate sectors.
Knowledge of economic abuse, financial services or digital financial inclusion.
Understanding of NGO sustainability and organisational change.
Excellent written English.

Desirable

Experience working in Zimbabwe or Southern Africa.
Experience managing donor-funded programmes.
Experience working with partnerships or faith-based organisations.
Working knowledge of Shona and/or Ndebele.

Contract Information

Consultancy contract
Up to 88 consultancy days
August 2026 – March 2027
Fees paid against approved deliverables
Approved travel and accommodation expenses reimbursed in line with CAFOD policies.
